Using Temperature Sensors for High Cavitation
Short Shot Detection

By Art Schubert
For some time we have discussed using temperature sensors for short-shot detection. The concept became more urgent as we looked forward to high-cavitation applications, especially as regards medical molders. The cost and complexity of installing 32, 64 or 128 pressure sensors becomes prohibitive. Temperature sensors look like a good alternative. They are cheaper, we already have a 4-input unit and we could build a high cavitation time-only unit quite simply. Furthermore, high cavitation parts such as medical and packaging are commonly made with semi-crystalline materials so as to be resistant to chemicals. The dimensions of parts made with these materials can be quite temperature sensitive. Full Article
