RJG Customers make
Processor of the Year finalists!

Congratulations to RJG customers Atek Plastics in Kerrville, TX and Plastikos Inc in Erie, PA for being two of the three Processor of the Year finalists!

Atek Plastics has an RJG certified Master MolderSM instructor and four Master Molders — out of a total workforce of 52. All 28 injection molding machines are equipped with robots, and 23 of the presses are running eDARTTM Process Control Systems. Gathering and analyzing all the information gives Atek a good handle on quality and continuous improvement. High quality and a 100 percent on-time delivery rate for four straight years, helped Atek Plastics score high marks for customer relations.

Plastikos Inc routinely completes extremely difficult sensor implementations for close tolerance electronics and medical applications produced in engineering grade resins.  Due to high expectations for quality, various R&D projects are on-going at any given time to further understand the four common plastic variables and ultimately the root causes for variations in cavity pressure.  Plastikos’ level of technical expertise gained from Master Molder and Systematic Molding certifications along with several degreed Plastics Engineers from Penn State Erie enable them to be successful on extremely difficult projects.

Mounting RJG's Press Fit Temperature Sensor in a Sleeve
One of the concerns that has arisen since the release of the press fit cavity temperature sensor is that retrofitting some tools can be very expensive. Customers are trying to find ways to cut tooling costs by installing the sensor in an existing ejector pin hole. Here are some ideas for ways to accomplish this.

Mold Deflection Sensor Under Development -
Release First Quarter 2011!

The new Mold Deflection Sensor captures valuable information that allows you to:

  • Establish truly Machine Independent Process Templates
  • Resolve issues with parting line flash
  • Minimize part dimensional issues which are a result of changes in mold deflection
  • Allow analysis of differences between deflections in various machines and develop a systematic procedure for normalizing them
  • Resolve clamp force adequacy issues
  • Resolve mold robustness issues
  • Insure correlations of part characteristics to key molding variables

Monitor Cavity Pressure on Cores and Ejector Sleeves
RJG's new piezoelectric load washers monitor cavity pressure on cores and ejector sleeves. For ejector sleeves, the core pin extends through the load washer so that only pressure from the ejector sleeve is monitored. For cores, water or bubblers can flow through the hole in the load washer. A variety of sizes are available to suit most applications. To find out which load washer will work best for you, contact customer support.
